Rubber Band Gun

What happens when you get the clothespins out for a math project and happen to be working with a gun obsessed little man? A rubber band gun... of course.

 

We don't have any guns in the house, and I refuse to buy him any "toy" guns at this point, so he has had to get creative. He brings me sticks to duct tape together. He works on different designs. He solves problems and tries to make them as realistic as possible, adding triggers, scopes, etc...

He had this stick gun next to him while we worked on math. I could see the wheels turning as he started to work with the clothespins. He placed one on the top of his gun... push down and smiled. He thought about shooting a string... that did not work. I suggested a rubber band... Oh... did he like that idea. It has been a constant companion since it was built. He has gone through three clothespins and tried different rubber bands to see which ones shoot the farthest. He is continually working out the kinks and trying new things...
