The highlight of our weekend at Sugar Camp was a late winter drive around Cape Breton on the Cabot Trail!
We woke to sunny skies at the farm...
It always amazes me to see a frozen sea!
Just down the road...I finally got a chance to get close to the ice... ice at the beach! Amazing!
The coastline continued to wonder... We followed Grandma and Papa to each new vista.
This was a great little overlook...
The clouds were rolling in over the hills...
The clouds were rolling in over the hills... and Wes was keeping Dylan wrangled!
Now away from the steep edge... happy to run about...
Fionna braving the cold for some fresh air and to stretch those little legs!

We were on the lookout for moose but had serious doubts about them getting over these huge mounds of snow... The snow plows have their work cut out for them here!

A top the mountain was windy as all get out... as a matter of fact only Papa and I made the exit out into the windy cold... the biggest best ones were always in places that were impossible to stop. One disadvantage to traveling in winter is that all of the shoulders on the road are piled high with snow!
View from the windy lookout...
Where the river bends... to the sea!
The sun peeked out here and the ice out in the sea was glowing...
We took the Englishtown Ferry...
Headed down the road to cross the bridge over toward Sydney...
Going over bridges is always a hit around here... we were reaching meltdown though... It's a long time in the truck for the little ones.
But we got out in Sydney for some grub at Joe's Warehouse...
The sun was putting on a show as we left Sydney...
The ice on Bras d'Or Lake was just was impressive...

The ice on Bras d'Or Lake was just was impressive...They used to drive cars across this lake in the winter! It's huge! Amazing!
Next morning... Nana Boo was all set with Teddy for the drive home in the snow. Many thanks to Grandma and Papa for a great visit and beautiful drive around the island!
It has been a busy week already but we are getting into a groove and have been searching for more signs of spring on our walks! The house is filled with rainbows... But alas the snow is coming back tomorrow!

OMG! What an incredible grouping of pix. Shey gu jarev! We did have a great time on that trip. We basically had the Highlands to ourselves and the day, as anyone can see from your fantax fotos, " Breahna Mohr". You caught it all. THAAANKS.

What fabulous, amazing views! Fascinating how the weather kept changing, and snow/no snow.
What a beautiful area to live. Thanks for sharing :-)
wow! beautiful photos. nova scotia looks like an amazing place.
I can't get over those shots of the frozen sea!
Your gorgeous pics are making me homesick for the coast of Maine... I grew up on the coast and now I'm plunked in the central woods...
We're in for a bit of the white stuff today... I'm not discouraged though :0)
