Yesterday morning I woke to this...
Fionna's pond collection made me smile again...
Roll out a scone recipe... put some jam on it... fold it up and bake until brown!
Yummy!
Then we got out and about to Lunenburg and the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic...
About an hour of driving with beautiful skies and all kinds of animal sightings along the way... deer and a MOOSE!
Once again we found ourselves alone in a museum. The malls are packed but no one is at the museums! Okay by us!
There were two levels...
Up stairs we found lots of nautical inspired art work and memorabilia from the local fisheries.
This great little theater was filled with wonderful paintings...
Amazing painter from Lunenburg.
Two open tanks downstairs.
Such a fun perspective for these guys...
Down stairs we found the aquarium. The kids loved seeing all the fish, lobsters and crabs. Fionna was taking off her jacket, ready to dive into the open water tanks. That girl! That girl!
all local fish found right here in Nova Scotia!

The concrete pump truck had arrived!
On the way to/from Lunenburg we passed through Mahone Bay. Totally covered in ice.
Now all that museum stuff is cool and all but after lunch the best show off all was right outside the museum!
We even saw an ice boat sitting out on the icy shore!
If you click on the link you can see it when it is not covered in ice!
When we first came up on Mahone Bay Fionna shouted out... "It's just like my little town!"
So cute! And she is right!
They are both really great little towns. Very set up for tourism so there was not much happening this time of year.
But we love having places to ourselves so it is a fun time to venture out!

jam filled slab scone YUMMY
Looks like a great day out- lots of interesting stuff to see and do.
The jam filled scone slab.... OMG!! Let me just run to the kitchen now and whip that up ;)
Look at that sky in the last picture! Fabulous!
Mind you, the scone looked pretty fabulous too :-)
And empty museums - people don't know what they're missing - but it's lucky for us ;-)
Well, certainly that first picture was a tell-tale sign promising a beautiful day.
How lovely.
Yes! Try the scone!
